The Age
Caroline is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and the Queensland Conservatorium. She won numerous awards and scholarships and was a finalist in three major operatic competitions which allowed her to continue training in London and New York and complete intensive language studies in Italy and Germany.
For Opera Australia Caroline has performed Olga in Eugene Onegin, Mercedes inCarmen, Inez in Il Trovatore, Mayors Wife in Jenufa , Mother Jeanne in Dialogue of the Carmelites, Lady in Waiting in Simon Boccanegra, Russian Nanny in Death in Venice
For Melbourne Opera she has performed the Title Role in Carmen and also Mercedes, the Title Role in Fidelio, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, Martha in Faust, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Flora in La Traviata, Anna in Maria Stuarda, Venus in Tannhauser (cover), Ortrude in Lohengrin (cover), Annina in Der Rosenkavalier.
For Victorian Opera Caroline covered The Title Role in Xerxes. For Ozopera roles include Mrs Chiffle/Narrator in Midnite for both the Adelaide and Melbourne festivals and Control/Pythia in Software touring metropolitan Melbourne and Scotland and Northern Ireland. Also in Scotland Caroline performed the role of Arnalta in The Coronation of Popea for the Caithness summer music Festival.
Other roles include: Reporter/Church Lady in Pecan Summer for Short Black Opera in both Adelaide and the Sydney Opera House. Jade Boucher in Dead Man Walking at the Sydney State Theatre. Marcellina in The Marrage of Figaro touring throughout China for the Australian International Touring Opera. Katisha in the Mikado and Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance for Promac/Laprima touring throughout Australia.
On the concert platform Caroline has been a soloist for the Tasmanian,Darwin and Sydney Symphony Orchestras performing the Mezzo solo in Verdi's Requiem at the SOH, Handel's Messiah DSO, Rossini's Petite Messe Solemelle for Gloiana, Rossini's Stabat Mater for VYO, Karl Jenkins Stabat Mater for FSO, Haydn's Mass in Time of War and Bach's Passion according to Saint John for EC and Juliette in Berlioz's Romeo et Juliette for WSO.
Caroline is a sought after recitalist, she has performed Beethoven's Ah Perfido throughout China with the AIOC Wagner's Wessendonk lieder and Britten's Cabaret Songs for the Sir Ruphert Hammer recital series and Respighi's Il Tramonto for the Winter Music in the Valley series. Caroline has performed in diverse and unique venues, from a Wagner recital in Melbourne's laneways and a Verdi birthday celebration in a city gallery to an multi media event with Melbourne's award winning Particle Bloom where her voice was transformed into a 3D experience for GLOW festival 2016.
Caroline is the mezzo soloist for La Prima Opera a boutique chamber opera ensemble which has its base in Melbourne and regularly tours throughout Australia, most recently touring Encore directed by Stuart Maunder in NSW and Victoria.
Caroline made her Lyric debut in the 2012 production of Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti and returned in the title role of Iphigenie en Tauride, Ma Moss in Copland's The Tender Land, Mrs Chase in Stella and her award winning role Ottavia in The Coronation of Poppea.
In 2019 Caroline returned to China in a tour of Le nozze di Figaro, recently performed in The Life Like company's 'Sweeney Todd and will Caroline will sing the role of Mrs Hargrave in the long awaited revival of Barry Conyngham's FLY.
