GENEVIEVE DICKSON

Mezzo Soprano

Genevieve has a Bachelor of music from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where she took part in the Early Voices Ensemble and performed the role of ʻL'Architectureʼ in Mark-Antoine Charpoentier's, Les Arts Florissants. In 2010, she launched The Aloysius Music Box concert series in the Yarra Valley.

 

In later years, she earned a place in Opera Scholars Australia and performed at Opera in the Alps and Opera in the Market, and took part in masterclasses led by Yvonne Kenny and Helena Dix.

 

In 2013 Genevieve was invited to sing at the Musicales En Eygaliyeres, accompanied by renowned London based pianist Julian Jacobson, she then performed a number of recitals at the Castello delle Serre in Italy, the following year.

 

For Citi Opera she has performed Echo in Ariadne Auf Naxos, Tisbe in Rossiniʼs La Cenerentola and understudied Cenerentol. With Cordeliaʼs Potted Opera she performed Rosina in The Barber of Seville, a role which she understudied for Melbourne Opera after being a bridesmaid in their production of Weberʼs Der Freischutz.

 

Her most recent concert appearance was in Vaughn Williamsʼ ʻSerenade to musicʼ and the world premiere of Tim Lukeyʼs ʻPassion of the Peopleʼ with the Preston Symphony Orchestra.

 

She looks forward to her Lyric Opera debut in June 2016, in the role of Marianna from Rossiniʼs Il Signor Bruschino and covering the role of Sofia.
