Haling from the United States, Patrick MacDevitt (tenor) is currently pursuing his PhD in Voice Performance and Musicology at the University of Melbourne, where he is a student of Stephen Grant. Recently, Patrick performed Brett Dean's Winter Songs at University of Louisivlle's New Music Festival and Parpignol in Kentucky Opera's production of La Boheme. Patrick also performed several contemporary opera roles in Thompson Street Opera's maiden season in Louisville Kentucky, including The Tramp in M. Maroney's Dust of the Road and Count Klinevich in A. Komanetsky's Bobok.
In 2012 Patrick played the title role in Kentucky Opera's production of Britten's Prodigal Son and appeared as Flute and Lysander in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Patrick has also performed asFerrando in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Vašek in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride and Little Bat in Floyd’s Susannah. In addition to his operatic appearances, Patrick has participated in the premiere of Jonathan Carter's Everyday Nonsense and the staged premier of Yvonne Freckman's Close Encounters of the Hillbilly Kind.
